Welcome to BMU! Home of the Bucks!
"Wildlife Encounters" at BMU
BMU Students were recently enthralled by a presentation of exotic animals given by Wildlife Encounters right here in our own Garvin Library! Topics of conservation and biology were explored in depth as students observed animal behaviors from up close. Thanks to the 'anonymous donor' who made this event possible!

Vermont All-State Parade
Blue Mountain participated recently in the All-State Parade, which was held on May 7 in St. Johnsbury, VT. Check out the slideshow of our students. You may also want to view the entire parade (click here), which we have uploaded to YouTube. (Blue Mountain appears just after the 18:00 minute mark).
Puppets in Education
The Puppets in Education troupe performed at the BMU Library on April 29. Through the creative use of their puppets they teach children how to keep themselves safe and healthy and to appreciate each other’s differences.
BMU on Local Radio
WYKR , 101.3 FM, is hosting an audio program entitle "Sound Education", which we are participating in. Check us out here.
Two Interesting Events
On February 7, there were two interesting events that were held at BMU - A Chinese New Year's Dragon Dance and a reenactment of the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies Parade. Have a look!
Blue Mountain elementary students celebrated the lunar new year with a dragon dance. The dragon was borrowed from the Asian Studies Outreach Program at UVM. One of the program's scholars, Gerry Gatz, gave presentations about Chinese dragons to grades k-5 earlier in the day. The pre-school met the dragon with “fire-breathing” dragon puppets they had made. Delicious traditional almond cookies were made by the BMU APPS class to share with the dragon-watchers. As part of her senior exit project Cindy Hoang was chief dragon handler.
Ms. Burn's fourth grade class reenacted the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies Parade.

Hour of Code
BMU students recently participated in the "Hour of Code", which was a part of Computer Science Education Week. This was a very exciting program that was created to entice students to experiment with computer programming, or 'coding'. If you are interested in more information on this check out this link.
