Poetry is all around you. It is in the songs you listen to and sing. It is
in the commercials that try to sell you things, it’s on boxes and circles
around foxes. Language is poetry.
Poetry can make you cry, think, chuckle, or hoot with laughter. Poets can tease,
warn, describe, teach, or tell stories. It's all up to the poets to make their
words sing!

Imagine you are completing a book of poetry with your favorite poets. You need to put the book together with some of your favorite poems and some of your own poems. The book will be bound together and shared during Poetry Centers and with families.
Book will include: 5 or more poems from at least two different poets
3 or more originals or rewrites of favorite poems
Binding process

You will work with a friend to search for poetry, read, and share together. You may use any of the websites listed below by just clicking on the site. You may use any of the poetry books found in the library or classroom. All poems in the Poetry Collection will need to be printed by the computer. Your teacher can help you cut and paste to a file or use Word to produce your original poems.
When ready for binding, see Mrs. Mallon for help.
