    • If you have been following the Challenges for Change saga, you know that the $19 million federal funding piece is in limbo until the new Legislature weighs in on the topic. On an encouraging note, the State Board of Education on November 16 approved the following motion on a vote of five in favor - one opposed:

      ". . . that the Federal Education Jobs Funding ($19 million) be distributed to the Vermont school districts to be applied towards meeting the Challenges for Change reduction target of $23 million scheduled to go into effect for the FY2012 school year."

       The motion signifies the disposition of the State Board on the topic and is helpful, but of course is in no way binding on the General Assembly and the Administration. Here's a link directly to the State Board of Education Action of November 16, 2010 (pdf).
