    What is a Scholarship?

    • A scholarship is a financial award given to a student, based on merit, academic achievement, financial need, or other criteria, that does not have to be repaid.
    • Some scholarships are a single gift whereas others are renewable as long as students meet a certain academic criteria (for example: GPA of 3.0 or better).

How do students apply for Scholarships?

    • New SCHOLARSHIP opportunities come into the school counseling office frequently, especially in the fall and winter months. Students should be checking with the school counseling department for the latest scholarship opportunities available to help them pay for college.
    • VSAC also puts out a scholarship book with many different opportunities and we have a workshop for our students here at BMU on how to use this book. Each scholarship has its own individual criteria and students need to read the FINE PRINT!

Refer to the following resources for scholarship opportunities that have come into our office for students entering college... check this page frequently - OR -  visit the school counseling office to check the scholarship notebook! New opportunities come into the office throughout the year.

**Remember - deadlines are important - you can NOT be late if you are applying for a scholarship.***

Many scholarships require an essay. It IS worth it!!! Wouldn't you write an essay for a chance at gift of money to invest in your future that you did not have to repay? Most importantly...have someone else PROOF your work!

Lastly - apply, apply, apply!!!!!! Your chance on getting a scholarship may be closer than you think, some scholarships do not have many applicants.

Scholarships available to BMU students are listed below and are in the scholarship book in the school counseling office. Please check this page AND/OR the book frequently as we update it as scholarships come in.

  • Check back frequently to find scholarships. Need money for post-secondary education? You have come to the right place!
