  • The Power of Film

Here's an important thing to consider - the power of film.  You don't want to underestimate this. It has been used since the advent of film to sway the opinion of the masses. When used this way it is considered to be 'propoganda'.

Film can be used for good and bad. The question is, how do we know when it is being used to this end? How do we know when a film is truthful in its information? The problem is that the multi-sensual nature of film in the hands of a skilled filmmaker can elicit a powerful emotional response from a viewer. Can you remember ever coming out of a theatre and feeling emotionally charged?

Please answer the three red-colored questions above in your response.

  • Women in Technology

Early on (in middle school) girls show just as much interest and aptitude for computer technology as boys. Then something changes through high school and then college and on. There ends up being a lot less women in computer technology fields then men.

Read the NPR article and then answer these three questions:

    1) Why is this?

    2) Is this something we should be concerned with?

    3) Is there something we could do in school to counteract this?

Take a moment to write about how you are "creative" in your life.

Are there other ways in which you wish to be creative?
