On June 3, 2014 BMU held a 'media literacy' day across the middle school. Students explored topics pertaining to this important subject, which included creating media projects. Visit the webpage and scroll down to the bottom to link to the excellent student 'public service announcement' projects.
Blue Mountain participated recently in the All-State Parade, which was held on May 7 in St. Johnsbury, VT. Check out the slideshow of our students. You may also want to view the entire parade ">(click here), which we have uploaded to YouTube. (Blue Mountain appears just after the 18:00 minute mark).

On February 7, 2014 there were two interesting events that were held at BMU - A Chinese New Year's Dragon Dance and a reenactment of the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies Parade. Have a look!

Blue Mountain elementary students celebrated the lunar new year with a dragon dance. The dragon was borrowed from the Asian Studies Outreach Program at UVM. One of the program's scholars, Gerry Gatz, gave presentations about Chinese dragons to grades k-5 earlier in the day. The pre-school met the dragon with “fire-breathing” dragon puppets they had made. Delicious traditional almond cookies were made by the BMU APPS class to share with the dragon-watchers. As part of her senior exit project Cindy Hoang was chief dragon handler.

Hour of Code 2014
BMU students recently participated in the "Hour of Code", which was a part of Computer Science Education Week. This was a very exciting program that was created to entice students to experiment with computer programming, or 'coding'. If you are interested in more information on this check out this link.
